Over the Labor Day weekend, I was hanging out with friends on South Padre Island. One of my friends has written a novel and was talking to me about her unsuccessful efforts to get someone to publish it. This book has become like a member of the family and she was anxious to see it come to life.
I had recently been introduced to a service that authors can use to self publish their books and have them listed in the Amazon online bookstore. So over the next hour we brainstormed about the project and formed a joint venture to make her dream come true.
At this point, she now has a blog–Cindy Bradford Fiction Writer –and she’s having a ball with that. At first, she said, “I don’t even know what a blog is!” So I said that it was just like the movie, “Julie and Julia” where Julie blogs about each of Julia Child’s recipes that she makes each day. “Oh”, she says, “I can do that” so she sends me emails and I post them to the website. The one about the raccoon is hilarious.
Cindy is well traveled having visited 40 countries so far. I’m now starting to add photos from her travels and I expect that she will write about future trips and adventures.
Today, we got the book cover from the graphic designer and it is really cool! Hopefully within a couple of days we will be in discussions with the publisher’s designers to customize the interior and other features. In the meantime, I will be setting up the social funnel on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.
