I can’t stress enough how important it is to run a computer backup on a regular basis. Especially if you are a blogger, affiliate marketer, or have a small business website. Two good options are Mozy and an external hard drive.

There are several ways to create a computer backup. You could transfer critical files to an external hard drive attached to your computer. Storage has definitely gotten cheaper. I recently bought a Western Digital My Passport Essential USB 500 GB Portable External Hard Drive for around $100. I have a computer that has a lot of pictures, videos and songs but not much in the way of content or data that changes. This will come in handy to back up that information.
On my main computer, however, where data is constantly changing, I use Mozy to do my computer backup. I have it set up to run at midnight and it gives me get peace of mind knowing that if my hard drive crashed or my laptop was stolen, Mozy has everything in a secure location and I can retrieve it all in a matter of hours. By the way, I did have a hard drive crash once and learned the hard way how expensive it is to have the data recovered. Believe me–you don’t even want to go there.
Mozy gives you 2 GB of backup space for nothing. Granted, that’s not a lot these days, but if you just want to backup a few critical files, that’s a great option.
