Write A Blog on Squidoo

by Chris Cobb on 7:26 pm

You want to write a blog, but you don’t know where to start? Try the free website called Squidoo. Squidoo was started in 2005 and has taken off and gotten easier and more fun to use. Rather than having multiple posts on a single page like a conventional blog, Squidoo is a series of “lenses” which are single pages with fun and interesting content on one subject. Latest count is 700,000 single pages. Check out the Perfect Dog Gate for an example.

Each lens is a series of modules and you as the lensmaster have complete control over which modules to use and how many to use. You will get a higher rank by Squidoo if you use several different modules and will get a virtual “slap on the hand” if you scrimp on your content.

There are Text Modules of course which allow uploading of images. You can put up a video from YouTube or other video sites. Including a Poll is always fun to give your readers an interactive experience. How about a Wikipedia module for some educational material about your subject?

For affiliate marketers, Squidoo offers an Amazon.com and an eBay module where you can promote products that are relevant to your subject. Of course you can link back to your other blogs or websites if you have them. To top it off Squidoo places ads on your lens when it is finished and if readers click on the ads and buy products, you get paid.

Squidoo is a great way to get started blogging and a great venue for experienced bloggers to extend their reach and add links for search engines to find.
